I checked my bank account last week and got a terrible shock. I didn’t actually have $100,000 in it. Then I remembered – I wasn’t rich. Which was a real shame because I wanted to start a brewery and I wanted to start it yesterday. The concept for the brewery was a good one I felt, and the project was really coming along – except for one very important part. The money. I checked the going rate for kidneys, but that wasn’t going to cut it either. So I decided to go another route.
Welcome to the launch of our Kickstarter campaign! Kickstarter is an online crowd funding tool. It gives individuals the opportunity to support projects that they are interested in. In return they get some cool rewards for their participation. We are hoping to raise $30,000 to get the brewery off the ground. It won’t be enough to fund the whole project, but it will enable us to sign a lease, begin permitting and meet expenses until opening day. As an added bonus, I’ll still have two functioning kidneys.
Kickstarter is community funding – and community is what Bogus is all about. Want to join our community? We’d certainly appreciate your support! There are some great rewards: Community Supported Brewing memberships, cycling jerseys, a progressive dinner and beer tasting on Boise’s Cycle Pub. One of our Kickstarter rewards even gives you the chance to be one of our Guinea Pigs. With all this experimentation, we’ll need a lot of Guinea Pigs to test our pilot batches. More fruit flavor in the Blackberry Saison? Cool, we’ll take care of it. You’ll know what’s coming up before anybody else does – and even have some control over what is coming up next!
